The left page is a sketch of my 2 foot tall Kitchen Chicken. Well he's a rooster, but I like calling him a kitchen chicken. He's a painted porcelain sculpture that sits on the counter behind the sink and watches over the kitchen. I love chickens, and my entire kitchen is based on this theme.
Next is a garlic wreath that I purchased at the farmer's market, that someone crafted out of whole garlic and dried flowers. It's on the side of the kitchen cabinet. My sketch doesn't do it justice. It's just beautiful! It has been braided with the long ends of the garlic and there are yellow and blue dried flowers tied with orange rafia at the top.
It's my birthday month, so in celebration I'm having a giveaway! If you are a Roban Studio Facebook Fan, head over and leave a comment on the giveaway post and you will be entered to win my miniature framed watercolor Pansy. It would look so cute on a bookshelf or side table.
If you aren't a fan yet, just hit the "Like" button at the top of my page. (You all know how this works already). The winner will be announced the following Saturday on my Facebook page. And since I like having giveaways, I've decided to have one the first Friday of every month, for the next year! (Remember that the colors on our monitors differ from that of the original piece. The painting is actually darker and richer than what it looks like here).

Watercolor 2.5"x3.5"
Framed to 3.75"x41/2"
Black frame included.
Black frame included.
I'll see you on Facebook! Now I'm going to visit the talented artists participating in Kristin and Eva's Paint Party Friday and see what everyone has been up to this week. Thanks for stopping by!

24 Thoughtful Musings:
love the sketch of the kitchen chicken sooo much... I have a juicer like that also and got it for an engagement present 22 years ago, and yes it still works as well... love it...xx
Your sketches are wonderful. I have an old glass juicer I haven't used in awhile... wonder what I did with it.
My friend is also doing the Sketchbook project. She's more of a collage journaler, so it's fun seeing what the two of you are creating.
So much wonderful art in your post! The colors of your kitchen chicken are so vibrant and your paintings are fabulous!
I love the juicer! Beautiful sketches.
Lovely creations ~ colorful and creative ~namaste, carol (A Creative Harbor) Happy PPF ^_^ ~
The kitchen chicken rocks, great sketches all around. Nothing like a hard working appliance, I think 34 months is about the average now.
Beautiful pansy! The black frame is a great complement. (Too bad I don't do facebook.)
Great kitchen sketches! That chicken is incredible - 2 feet tall? Wow!
love the color in your paintings. I like chickens, hens, roosters too.

Rhonda, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here today. The rooster painting is just gorgeous, as are the others. I have a newer version of the juicer but rarely use it. I love the idea of painting stuff from your kitchen. What excellent drawing practice.
I love your sketches! I have a lot of chickens and roosters too. What is it about kitchens that just need to have a kitchen chicken? haha
I hope you didn't jinx your juicer, it looks fab!
Happy PPF!

Hi Rhonda - great to catch up with you :-) These are a feast of scrumptious juicy colours. Your orange & juicer has me craving some orange juice. And I love your kitchen chicken best of all with his brightly coloured plumage and cheery personality!
Hope all is well with you.

Your paintings brought back memories. I too have a Rooster like that in my kitchen. It use to be my grandma's. So, he's pretty old. . .and a bit beat up, but he's mine and I love him. Blessings, Janet PPF
